Team Competitions

Most professional golf is individual competition.  However, every two years there are international team events that are non-paid competitions held for pride and country.  The Ryder Cup is a team competition between US men golfers and European men golfers.  Originally, The Ryder Cup was contested by the best American male golfers and those of their UK counterparts.  The Solheim Cup is the female equivalent of The Ryder Cup.  The President’s Cup is a men’s competition which pits worldwide golf players against US players.  Amateur players can play in The Walker Cup for men and The Curtis Cup for women.  Both these competitions are played biennially and conducted by the USGA.
